The Manitoba Division office is part of a nation-wide charitabel organization that promotes the mental health of all and supports the resiliance and recovery of people experiencing mental illness. Programs run our of the Division office are the Eating Disorders Self-Help Program, the Partnership for Consumer empowerment and Mental Health Works.
About the Canadian Mental Health Association
The Canadian Mental Health Association is a national organization with approximately 135 branches in communities of all sizes, form coast to coast. Founded in 1918, it is one of Canada's oldest voluntary associations, and it is the only one that deals with all aspects of mental health and mental illness. CMHA exists to promote the mental health of all people.
The CMHA Manitoba Division formed in 1956, and since then has taken a leadership role in mental health in Manitoba. We act as a social advocate to encourage public action and are committed to strengthening community mental health services, legislation and policies affecting services. Our mental health projects are based on principles of empowerment, peer and family support, participation in decision-making, citizenship and inclusion in community life.
